Biography

Professor Xungai Wang is the Director of Australian Future Fibres Research and Innovation Centre (AFFRIC), Institute for Frontier Materials (IFM) at Deakin University, Australia. He is the 2005 recipient of Fiber Society Distinguished Achievement Award, and the President of the Fiber Society for 2015. Professor Wang has published over 300 research articles in international research journals.

Abstract

This talk will discuss the unique properties of wild silk and silk cocoon structures and how such knowledge may help our effort to develop light-weight protective materials through bio-mimicking.
